Faire le pont 🌉

Expression française

Faire le pont is a French expression that literally means “make the bridge”.

It means that you take a day off between a public holiday and a weekend.

For example, 1st of May is a public holiday in France and falls on a Tuesday.

You can take the Monday off (today) and get a four-days weekend.

You can then say: “Je fais le pont du 1er mai.”
