Action proche dans le passé
Le passé récent s’utilise pour parler d’une action qui est très proche dans le passé, une action qui s’est passée juste avant le moment où l’on parle.
On utilise le verbe VENIR suivi de la préposition DE et d’un verbe à l’INFINITIF.
The recent past is used to speak about an action that is very close in the past, an action that happened just before the moment one speak.
You have to use the verb VENIR followed by the preposition DE and a verb in INFINITIVE.
- Elle vient DE déjeuner. (She just had lunch.)
Élision
Si le verbe qui suit la préposition DE commence par une voyelle ou un H muet, on utilise D’.
If the verb following the preposition DE starts with a vowel or a mute H, you should use D’.
- Ils viennent D’acheter une maison. (They just bought a house.)
Juste, tout juste
Vous pouvez aussi ajouter JUSTE ou TOUT JUSTE pour accentuer le fait que l’action s’est produite très récemment.
To emphasise how recent the action is, you can add JUSTE or TOUT JUSTE.
- Il vient JUSTE de téléphoner à son frère. (He just called his brother. (a few second ago).)
Verbes pronominaux
Avec les verbes pronominaux, n’oubliez pas le pronom réfléchi (ME-TE-SE-NOUS-VOUS-SE).
With the reflexive verbs, don’t forget the reflexive pronoun (ME-TE-SE-NOUS-VOUS-SE).
- Je viens de ME réveiller. (I just woke up.)
Imparfait
Le verbe VENIR peut aussi être conjugué à l’imparfait pour exprimer une action qui venait juste de se produire dans le passé.
The verb VENIR can also be conjugated in «imparfait» to express an action that had just happened in the past.
- Le bus VENAIT d’arriver. (The bus had just arrived.)
